Quantum information theorist Gilles Brassard holds a Canada Research Chair at the University of Montreal. He already spent a semester at the ETH-ITS in 2014 and will stay until 30 June 2019. Yakov Eliashberg, Herald L. and Caroline L. Ritch Professor of Mathematics at
Stanford University, is a specialist in symplectic geometry, topology and complex geometry. He will come to Zurich for a first period of three months starting 1 July 2019. Two further Senior Fellows, Ivan Cherednik, Austin M. Carr Distinguished Professor of Mathematics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, working in representation theory and combinatorics, and mathematical physicist Nicolai Reshetikhin, Professor of Mathematics at the
University of California, Berkeley,  a specialist in representation theory, statistical mechanics and low-dimensional topology, will join the Institute on 1 July and stay for a year. They will be joined on 1 September by number theorist Kannan Soundararajan, Professor of Mathematics at Stanford University, whose research interests include L-functions and multipicative number theory.
